Oil on canvas – Sand Dunes and Salty Air – 2017
Observations of a post-winter day walking the length and breadth of West Wittering beach, Sussex. Wrapped against the elements, the taste of the sea in the air, watching the clouds scuttling and seeing the ever-changing light on water, the beach isolated from human presence, a rare event. Walking through the Dunes and looking at the surrounding marshes, marvelling the strength some species have to grow against the odds inspired a painting that illustrates the changes at Wittering from the marsh, to sand, to sea, to the horizon and expansive sky. A winter pleasure.
