Oil on canvas with gold leaf – Remnants of Ophelia 2017
Listening and observing news updates concerning Hurricane Ophelia whilst painting in the studio under a reddened sky, inspired a response to the otherworldly effects of the 2017 Hurricane Ophelia. Red became the dominant colour whilst ensuring a luminous effect of the sun altered by the angered sky and winds implying the mastery of impassioned natural phenomena. Deeper reds and textured movement contrasted with luminous serenity giving the impression of human insignificance.
